Château Hauchat “La Rose”
Style: Aromas of plums, currants and berries
Another award winner taking silver at the Challenge International du Vin in 2014 and again at the Concours General Agricole Paris in 2015, this wine from Château Hauchat “La Rose” is made from vines grown on the plateau of Saint-Aignan an area linked to the quality of the Fronsac Appellation. The vineyard looks south-west towards its famous neighbor, Pomerol, and has perfect sunshine and drainage. The Hauchat estate was purchased by the Saby family in 1973 who supply us with several red wines. This wine is 100% Merlot and spends 12 months in new French oak barrels. A dark purple colour leads to aromas of plums, currants and berries with a balanced medium to full body and a long finish. Very nice indeed with all kind of meat dishes, stews and roasts.
